The Hunger Games
Well today has been the first time I've felt hungry.....and I still feed hungry!
Same breakfast - Banana - same lunch - can of soup (chicken this time) same dinner - chicken with roasted veg!
So why have I felt so hungry? I can only put it down to boredom, work was very quiet so I took the afternoon off, listed some stuff on ebay and played Call of Duty!
Still kids will be back to school next week so my routine should be back to normal. It's Friday, I really fancy a beer, cider or wine but am refraining and sticking to the water! Roll on breakfast!

Week 2 Fast Day 1
Some interesting conclusions from my first week.....I find the actual fast days to be pretty easy.....but the following day, despite breakfast (cereal and whatever fruit is laying around) I am quite ready to eat my own arm off by 11 o'clock! I think I will buy a breakfast bar or something for when that kicks in. It's almost like comedown from the elation of completing my fast days.
Also, to my surprise, I bought a pack of Mediterranean Veg for Waitrose to eat with my chicken breast - peppers, onions and courgettes. Very nice but quite expensive, so compared the same pack in sainsbury's. Same weight, same ingredients but double the calories! How does that work? Peppers, courgettes and onions promptly bought and tastes better than the packs.
One other thing, as I said last week low calorie ready meals are crap, and the low calorie soup I had last week has more calories than tesco's everyday soup, costs more than twice as much and tastes no where as good!

Everyday Soup 24p and 10 less calories than the 50p light choices soup!
Anyway - I moved my Monday, Thursday routine to Tuesday, Friday due to the bank holiday. Again Banana and Earl Grey for breakfast, Tesco Everyday Value Vegetable soup for lunch which was surprisingly yummy and for dinner my wife made me this.
Big plate of roasted Veg and a lovely chicken breast.

Fast Day 2!
So I forgot to mention my evening meal from day 1....probably because I was so unimpressed! A Tesco Noodle, chinesey easy meal....was a bit nothing and looked like it on the plate. So I decided to have a look at how many calories were in things more closely. Chicken breast about a calorie a gram, excellent, fish about the same and as for veggies well they contain virtually no calories at all!
So day 2 started - the normal banana for breakfast with a cup of earl grey (about 100 calories)
Lot's of bottle water all through the morning and then for lunch a tin of soup, chicken and sweetcorn, which tasted surprisingly much better than the tin I had on Monday. I put this down to the fact that I boiled it in a pan and didn't microwave it which seemed to make it thicker (170 calories for the soup)
Again lot's of bottle water through the afternoon and then for dinner it was a 150 gram chicken breast and a plate full of roasted peppers, onions and courgettes which came in at well under 100 calories - under 250 calories for the dinner.
So day 2 was well under 600 calories and I have not felt hungry at all. I put this down to the water which I didn't do on day 1 and also have quickly learned that low calorie diet meals are crap! Soup was OK though although I plan to make my own over the weekend with the beans I have in the freezer. I was going to have green beans and swede with my chicken but the beans in Tesco's were from Kenya and cost £2 for a small amount. I grow thousands of the things over the summer so will tuck into whatever green veg I have growing on the allotment over the summer. I'm quite keen to stick with the chicken and will alternate that with fish when I can barbecue the fish outside.
I also plan to buy some decent scales over the weekend so I know if I'm losing weight!
One final thing I want to say is that on Monday (day 1) I did find myself thinking about food and how everywhere you go you see food! I couldn't help thinking I was becoming like the lion chasing the zebra in the film Madagascar but today was completely different.

The Fast Diet Day 1!
OK so I'm a taxi driver who is lazy and fattish....I've got a belly to get rid of put it that way. .tried the sofa to 5k running thing and knackered my knee so now I'm trying the 5:2 diet and this is my first fasting day!
I started with a cup of Earl Grey as a replacement for the normal cup of tea this morning followed by a banana for breakfast.....not too bad and work was incredibly busy and having started just before 8 this morning didn't get home until 1.30 for lunch which was a tin of weight watchers soup from tesco's. I'm guessing that the banana was 100 calories and the soup (which I thought was 85 calories for the whole can but that was for half a can) actually turned out to be 170 calories as I had the whole can! It's now 5 o'clock and I'm feeling pretty hungry but am resisting eating anything until my tesco's weight watchers noodles later.
